Hey Cassie, my name is Thi. As a first one, you did a very good job. I would like to have questions for you.
You made a good speech on beauty standards so in your opinion how do you define beauty? Who is the most beautiful person?
I think it's good when you are confident about yourself but I see many people with attractive appearance always have better chances or opportunity in life. Do you think so?

Student Evaluation Form for the Persuasive Speech
Speaker: Cassandra Huerta
Respondent: Marisa Sorrell
How did you feel about the position taken on this topic before hearing the speech? Before hearing the speech I felt that this could be very uplifting or very down grading depending on the position the speaker decided to take on what beauty standards I was supposed to be persuaded by.
How effective was the introduction? Did it capture the audience’s attention? The introduction was well executed and I felt that it did manage to capture my attention through her use of data she gathered from the class surveys.
Did the speaker adequately create the need or state the significance of the topic? Did the speaker appeal to the needs and values of the audience? Yes, by mentioning how it can effect people who chose to harm themselves based on their appearance. Yes, by going off of the class surveys.
Was the speech organized, using signposting, good supporting evidence, sound logic, and smooth transitions? I think the speech was well organized and had great supporting evidence and logic. The transitions or edits rather kind of threw me off.
Was the solution fully explained? Was the solution workable? Did it meet audience objections? I believe so, yes.
Was there a realistic and vivid visualization of possible conditions created by the speaker? Yes.
Comment on the specific action that the speaker requested. How effective was the ending? A random act of kindness was what the speaker requested and the ending helped portray why it is needed for everyone.

How effective was the speaker’s vocal delivery? The speaker was a little hard to hear at times because of how soft spoken she is.

How effective was the speaker’s physical delivery? The body language was effective in emphasizing certain points she had.
How do you feel about the topic after hearing the speech? Were the speaker’s arguments convincing to you? I feel more comfortable knowing that it was along the lines of uplifting and not another standard that was supposed to be met. The speaker's argument was very convincing to me.
I'd also like to add a compliment for you, Cassie, for being brave enough to deliver a speech on something you said is uncomfortable to you, I think you are very beautiful and intelligent and hope that you know how inspiring you have been by speaking out against beauty standards!
My question, do you know of any social media influencers who also speak out against beauty standards and promote acts of kindness?

My questions for her is :
Thank you Marisa for doing such a helpful topic in this pandemic. I am cleaning my house 3 times a week already but I would like to ask, when I mop the floor instead using too much lysol I tend to use it once a week. I wonder if it’s enough or do I have to use it every time I clean?
Another question is, between dusting and vacuum do you think which one should go first?
Again thank you so much for your speech.

Student Evaluation Form for Persuasive Speech
Speaker : Lucas Antunes Respondent: Thi Thuy Nhung Duong
How did you feel about the position taken on this topic before hearing the speech?
Another topic on COVID 19 but different aspects, I’m so excited to listen to this speech. COVID is getting dangerous each day, until today there are 120 deaths in San Diego so it’s good when I have a lot of information to protect my family and myself.
How effective was the introduction? Did it capture the audience’s attention?
He had given a lot of figures about confirmed cases and total deaths that captured my attention from the beginning.
Did the speaker adequately create the need or state the significant of the topic? Did the speaker appeal to the needs and values of the audience?
Yes, he did.
Was the speech organized, using signposting, good supporting evidence, sound logic, and smooth transition?
Yes, he did extensive research about this topic so he provided good evidence, statistics and also had a smooth transition.
Was the solution fully explained? Was the solution workable? Did it meet audience objections?
Yes, it was. But I think he should do a little more detail on preventing virus.
Was there a realistic and vivid visualization of possible conditions created by the speaker? Yes, there was
Comment on the specific action that the speaker requested
He recommended us donate to some of the organizations for poor people, help them get over this hard time
And we should do social distancing, avoiding spread
How effective was the ending? It was good
How effective was the speaker vocal’s delivery? His voice was in the right tone to listen
How effective was the speaker physical’s delivery? I think he could work a little bit more on his body languages, and I think he should look at the camera more than his powerpoint.
How do you feel about the topic after hearing the speech? Were the speaker’s argument convincing to you?
After hearing this speech, I sympathize with poor people who can not pay their medical bills, I think it’s different in different countries. The U.S government always provides and helps poor people but maybe there are different policies in Brazil and other countries. But I don’t think this argument convinces me.

My question for him is:
I think it’s good when you are talking about poor people but in your thesis you explained the immediate need for preventing COVID 19, but I would like to ask about how we can prevent it. Because I heard you said we should do social distancing only.
You talked about Tom Hanks getting tested to make sure if he had the virus or not. So may I ask what the test was? And how long could we get the results?
Thank you!

With the numbers and statistics he showed I felt interested about the topic.
Did the speaker adequately create the need or state the significant of the topic? Did the speaker appeal to the needs and values of the audience?

Was the speech organized, using signposting, good supporting evidence, sound logic, and smooth transition?
Yes, he did extensive research about this topic so he provided evidence, statistics and also had a smooth transition.
Was the solution fully explained? Was the solution workable? Did it meet audience objections?
Yes, it was. However, I would like more information on how to prevent the virus.
Was there a realistic and vivid visualization of possible conditions created by the speaker?

How do you feel about the topic after hearing the speech? Were the speaker’s arguments convincing to you?
Coming from a country where I know how hard it for most of people to pay for their medical bills, their food, rent, etc, his arguments convinced me. Although in Brazil we have public health system, this system was already collapsed before Covid-19, and now things are getting worse.
My question for him is:
What are the other ways you can prevent Covid-19?
Is there an effective vaccine or medicine being tested?
Thank you!

Before hearing the speech I had no idea what to expect, because I had no idea what VPN's are are what they do.

Yes, and yes, he even made a chart to show all of his data from the class surveys.

How effective was the speaker’s vocal delivery?
I believe it was very effective.

It was hard to see his physical delivery (hand gestures) so I'm not sure, but I did like how easy it was to see his visual aid.
How do you feel about the topic after hearing the speech? Were the speaker’s arguments convincing to you?
I feel more informed and more confident in choosing a VPN service, if or when I decide to get one. I thought there was a lot of good information, but I am truthfully not sold on the idea of really needing one.

This Marisa S. responding to Thi's question:

Hi Thi! Thank you for your questions. When it comes to mopping your floors, once a week is a perfect number of times to keep them clean. However, since I don't know the specific product or type of floor you're cleaning, I suggest to read the instructions for use on the product you have, or you can even look up videos to feel more comfortable with knowing how often to clean to make sure it's enough. As for dusting, I would recommend to always do your dusting first, since the dust tends to go everywhere, when you continue cleaning you can easily catch any stray dust bunnies. Also, vacuuming and other floor cleaning would be something I'd say to do last.

Hi Marisa,I'm reading this book lately. It is about a boy with his two dad, one is the poor dad and the other one is a richer. And how they teach him, how he thinks about money and finance when he is taught by his two dads. I would recommend it for you, because as a beginner studying about money and property, I found this book is easy to understand and it's very relate to our daily life. The book called "Rich dad, poor dad".

Comment on the specific action that the speaker requested.
Rebecca would like for the audience to change to a vegetarian or vegan diet.
How effective was the ending?
The ending was very effecting due to the emotional appeal for animals and the environment.
How effective was the speakers vocal delivery?
Rebecca's vocal delivery was clear but she talked softly.
How effective was the speakers physical delivery?
Physical deliver was okay, more eye contact would be nice.
How do you feel about the topic after hearing the speech? were the speakers arguments convincing to you?
I feel about the same as I did before. They are many benefits to a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle but here in the US eliminating entire food groups can be a big ask for people who either can support it financially, medically or live in places like Manila, Wyoming.

Hello, my name is Thi and this is question for Rebecca: I know a lady works in a restaurant 12 hours/day and she is vegetarian too but it seems not enough nutrition when you work so she lacks energy, and is hungry all the time. So I want to ask you if there is any vegan food that provides you more nutrition so you can be able to work 6 hours until your meal?

The second question is you mentioned a lot about vegan food and plant based protein, but is it easy for everyone to buy it? I mean we live in a large country, how about people who live in smaller or poorer countries?
